What is ITil?

ITIL defined for Information Technology Infrastructure Library which is a set of detailed practices for IT service management (ITSM) that typically concentrate on managing the IT services with the basic business requirements. Currently, ITIL is published as a series of five core volumes, with each column explains the different ITSM lifecycle stage.

Basically, ITIL means processes, procedures, tasks, and checklists which are not organization or technology specific but can be used by the business organization to develop the strategy of the organization, delivering value, and lowering the competency. It permits the organization to create a baseline from which it can plan, implement, and measure. It is used to demonstrate compliance and to measure improvement.
